Do you offer standard processes?

Yes. All metal finishing processes have standard procedures. Customizations are also available based on a client’s specific requirements.

How do you determine what finish is best for my product?

Typically, a finish requirement is defined in a purchase order or customer supplied drawing. However, we will guide a customer to a more practical or cost effective finish if we feel it will help.

How quickly can I expect a response on quotes?

We are dedicated to responding to all quotes within 24 business hours. If the project is more complex and requires more time, we will contact you to let you know an estimated quote delivery.

What is the quickest turnaround you can offer of on a project?

For certain projects we can offer same day turnaround. All of our expedited services will carry an additional fee depending upon the speed and the application.

Will you stock my inventory?

We will stock raw parts for staggered delivery, but this is dependent upon part size and duration of storage.

Should I choose silk screening or laser marking for my metal component?

We always recommend laser. However, certain large area images or other applications that present limitations to our laser process are better suited for silk-screening, which we do not provide.

Are you able to create and manage unique identifiers for traceable metal parts?

Yes, 1D & 2D Barcodes. We also do UID codes for DoD traceability.

What documentation do I need for my FFL-regulated metal part?

Copy of ATF issued FFL Certificate. Any serial numbers or other tracking data required by law should be clearly stated in the Purchase Order and any correspondence.

Are you NADCAP / AS9100 certified?

Yes, please see our most current certificates:

What if I have part acceptance issues?

Please let us know immediately so that we can determine root-cause and collaborate to develop a path forward.

What are the cost drivers in metal finishing?

Typically, part size and geometry are the main drivers, but degree of complexity and tolerance specification are also factored in.

Are your finishing processes environmentally friendly?

Yes, we are environmentally conscious with all work that comes through our facility and we monitor the impact our work has on the environment.

What is the benefit of Electroless Nickel?
The advantages include:

  • Does not use electrical power.
  • Even coating on parts surface can be achieved.
  • No sophisticated jigs or racks are required.
  • There is flexibility in plating volume and thickness.
  • The process can plate recesses and blind holes with stable thickness.
  • Chemical replenishment can be monitored automatically.
  • Complex filtration method is not required
  • Matte, Semi Bright or Bright finishes can be obtained
What are your laser marking capabilities?

We specialize in Direct Part Marking (DPM) on nearly all metals and many plastics and we will work with flat and round parts with full circumferential marking capabilities.

Can Forge Metal Finishing certify the process?

Yes.

Do you offer hard coat anodizing?

Yes, Class 1 & Class 2

What is the difference between hard coat anodizing and conventional anodizing?

The main differences are thickness, abrasion resistance, pore structure and cost. Hard coat usually offers more advantages, but cost can be a decision factor.

What does your color matching process entail?

Usually we ask for a sample or standard of what the customer requires. Then, through some experimentation, we develop a custom color that is reproducible. Next we develop a standard process to duplicate that color whenever the customer requires production for that part.

Is there a price difference between the anodizing processes?

Yes, Type III Hardcoat is 2–3x greater than conventional Type II Anodize, depending upon the thickness requirement.

Who will my primary contact be if I do business with Forge Metal Finishing?

A Project Manager or Operations Manager initially, then usually shipping and scheduling coordinators can assist with routine orders.

Do you offer warranty on your metal components?

We stand behind our work. If we fail to meet the specifications we will fix the problem or work toward an equitable solution.

Can I visit / tour the facility?

Yes, please contact Robert Emmerson to arrange a visit and tour.
